Have you heard? Abby Johnson, ex-director of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Texas has written a book about her journey away from the horrors of abortion (and it’s industry) to becoming a defender for the unborn! Her new book titled unPlanned is the “dramatic true story of a former Planner Parenthood Leader’s eye-opening journey across the life line.” This is the description from the book:
“Abby Johnson quit her job in October 2009. That simple act became a national news story because Abby was the director of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Texas who, after participating in her first actual abortion procedure, walked across the road to join the Coalition for Life.
Unplanned is a heart-stopping personal drama of life-and-death encounters, a courtroom battle, and spiritual transformation that speaks hope and compassion into the political controversy that surrounds this issue. Telling Abby’s story from both sides of the abortion clinic property line, this book is a must-read for anyone who cares about the life versus rights debate and helping women who face crisis pregnancies.”
The book has a foreword by Father Frank Pavone from Priests for Life and the introduction was written by the director of 40 Days for Life, David Bereit. This book is getting a lot of attention (from both sides)…for those of you some way involved in 40 Days for Life (like I am), it’s a must read! I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy myself!
I've read this woman's story in a short article, but the book looks even better. It's so great to have her speaking out for life. I see that you're involved in 40 Days for Life. Folks from my church are taking a bus to DC for the March for Life, but I won't be able to join them this year . . . Thanks for visiting my blog, Erika! I'll be back to visit yours again soon. Blessings!
HI Erika!
I have not heard of this book yet, but it looks so great and I'm sure it will touch hearts in ways unimaginable! I plan on going to the March for Life with my family for the first time next weekend! I hope the weather is good to us! Thanks for linking up to our No Ordinary Blog Hop! I am a follower of your blog and it's always so nice to "meet" other Catholic bloggers! God bless!

@Renee Ann: Oh I'd love to take a bus to the March for Life but won't be able to go this year…maybe next (this gives my kids time to get a little bigger too 😉 ) My almost 13 year old would LOVE it! Thanks for your kind words and do please come back and visit us! ((((HUGS))))
@Tracy: Have a great time at the March for Life (tell me how it goes with small kids). I've only been there the years I was a Youth Minister (many moons ago) and I can't imagine going with the little ones…but I've just recently gotten them involved in 40 Days for Life…and it's been a great experience so far. My 4 year old daughter just today asked, "Mommy, babies are so beautiful why would the ladies want to kill them?" (out of no where mind you) and I said, "what do you mean?" She answered, "the place we went to pray for them to keep their little ones, remember? where we held up signs and asked Mary to save their babies!" Then she said, "I pray for those babies still Mama." My heart melted! I couldn't believe it stuck to her so much!!! 🙂 So yes, I can't wait to get my hands on this book. Abby will probably be at the March for Life…tell me if you hear about her there. Have a safe trip Smith family!
